Berseh Food Centre at 166 Jalan Besar temporarily closed from 29 September to 28 December 2025 for Repairs & Redecoration.
The works were carried out as an R&R programme rather than a complete redevelopment or rebuilding of the hawker centre.
After the scheduled works period, Berseh returned to operation from its existing Jalan Besar premises.

Why Berseh Food Centre Closed
Berseh Food Centre temporarily closed for a scheduled Repairs & Redecoration programme.
R&R works form part of the maintenance of existing hawker-centre premises and are different from the shorter periodic cleaning closures that occur during the year.
Berseh's 2025 R&R period lasted around three months. Routine cleaning closures are much shorter and are tracked separately.

What Does Repairs & Redecoration Mean?
R&R is a maintenance and renewal programme for an existing hawker centre rather than construction of an entirely new centre.
Maintain
The programme helps maintain existing hawker-centre premises and common areas.
Repair
Depending on the centre and scope of works, repairs may address building or shared-facility needs.
Redecorate
Common spaces and finishes may also be refreshed as part of the R&R programme.
The scope of R&R work varies between hawker centres. We therefore do not claim that particular flooring, toilets, fans, lighting or other individual features were replaced unless Berseh-specific evidence is available.
Berseh Food Centre Reopening
Back at 166 Jalan Besar
The published Repairs & Redecoration period ran from 29 September through 28 December 2025. Berseh Food Centre subsequently returned to operation from its long-standing Jalan Besar premises.
Individual stalls continue to follow their own operating days, rest days and opening hours.

Some Berseh stall changes occurred around the same period as the renovation. Their timing does not necessarily mean that the R&R programme caused those changes.
